Romani CRISS and ECPI filed a complaint to the National Council for Combating Discrimination regarding the segregation of Roma children from the majority children by placing them in separate wards in “Marie Sklodowska Curie” Hospital in Bucharest. It’s for the first time when information about this type of practice in Romanian hospitals could have resulted in a complaint towards authorities. Read the Press release

Today, Romani CRISS launched the “Roma and the Public Discourse in Romania. Best Practice Guidelines” publication and the “Stereotypes, prejudices and ethnic discrimination: Roma’s perspective” research in the context of the International Human Rights Days. The press conference continued with the official opening of the Human Rights Academy, a training course implemented by Romani CRISS in partnership with Amnesty International and Harvard University FXB Center for Health and Human Rights.

Zurale Romnia - Association of Health Mediators

December 12^th 2010 is a landmark for the history of health mediators and for Roma communities in Romania, because it’s the date when the first Association of Health Mediators – Zurale Romnia was established. Romani CRISS took this initiative during the national meeting of the health mediators in Romania, organised by CRISS, where 150 mediators from 39 counties participated. Details here.
